Mark began his career in the brokerage business as a Financial Consultant with Merrill Lynch in 1983, after a 4 year start in Banking.  He joined Smith Barney in 1987 as a Management Training Associate and in 1989 was promoted to Sales Manager in their Southfield, MI branch. In 1990 through 1998 he served as the Branch Manager.
Previously, Mark was a Managing Director with Morgan Stanley, where he held several Executive. Prior to that, he was the Head of Funds Sales, Head of Diversity, and Director of Training for Smith Barney.

Key Accomplishments

  • Mark started the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP) and was elected the chapter’s first president.
  • Mark served on the board of the National Association of Securities Professionals from 1995-2012 and was Chairman of the Board during the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009.
  • In 1994 Mark was named, “One of the Best Branch Managers in the Industry,” by Financial Planning on Wall Street magazine, an industry publication for investment brokers.
  • In 2001 he was honored by the Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, with The Interfaith Spirit Award for Corporate Excellence.
  • In 2003 Mark was honored by the Harlem YMCA as one of their “Black Achievers in Industry”.

Philanthropy and Service

Board of Directors of the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation.

He served as Chair of the advisory board of the Hartford Academy of Finance at Weaver H.S., an organization that works in partnership with public schools to teach primarily inner city children about banking, securities and the financial industry.
